The Director of Enterprise Data Architecture leads all aspects of data capture, integration with outside systems, data governance, and leads initiatives which enable the utilization of data in service of making better, quicker decisions … all while following industry best practices.   The Director reports to and works directly with the Chief Data Officer to establish and maintain data processes to ingest, warehouse, and array enterprise data to best support any and all business intelligence needs, business processes, reporting, data quality initiatives, and compliance efforts.

Reporting and Analytics

  • Lead reporting groups to deliver actionable analytics in a way that is reliable, efficient, performant, and ultimately self-service.
  • Manage departments and individuals whose function is to produce analytic reporting.

Enterprise Data Architecture Platforms with Data Governance

  • Leadership: manage and lead a team of developers, analysts, and testers to deliver efficient and robust processes to support all aspects of the business
  • Aggregation: Decide what data qualify as Enterprise Data and lead initiatives to integrate it into a single platform to be accessed by all interested parties.
  • Cleansing: Develop programs to engage in data cleansing to ensure the highest possible data quality while maintaining an appropriate audit trail.
  • Harmonization: Aggregate data from disparate applications to support reporting by harmonizing the data to be used in a unified way.
  • Mapping: Create processes to inform users of data location, origin, definition, transformation, and relationship with other data.
  • Compliance and Security
    • Work to ensure applications follow General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”)
    • Work with Chief Data Officer and General Counsel to understand any industry-specific regulatory requirements and establish data programs to satisfy these requirements.
    • Work with Chief Security Officer and Network/Infrastructure team (and in line with GDPR), ensure data platforms provide the following:
      • Security within the organization—data access aligns with data needs, key management, “least privilege” principle
      • Security from external parties—data accessible on a secure network with MFA, malware protection, breach notification processes
      • Security of PII (data masking/encryption both at rest and in transit)

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and/or equivalent work experience
  • Mortgage industry experience/knowledge is a plus.
  • 5-10+ years of IT management experience

Required Skills/ Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external business partners and vendors
  • Experience with Azure data manipulation (Data Factory/Data Lake/Data Bricks/Logic Apps) and comprehensive knowledge of data integration practices and tools
  • Strong database development/data architecture skills
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience using MS-SQL (T-SQL and Spark SQL, especially)
  • Experience in developing and deploying Power BI solutions
  • A history of designing and developing database objects, tables, stored procedures, and views in an MS SQL environment
  • At least 5 years’ experience with BI applications; decision support systems, query and reporting, online analytical processing, statistical analysis, forecasting, and data mining
  • Experience building and maintaining a complex database environment with multiple source data tables and dimension tables
  • Strong knowledge of database design principles
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking, and deadlocking issues
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams across the enterprise
